Would you like to come and work with us in Bendigo?

Living in Bendigo combines the many of the advantages of living in a big city with the perks of living in a regional area.

Bendigo Health is a new state-of-the art hospital has an extensive range of services including ICU, 24h cath lab, a range of medical and surgical specialties, O&G, paediatrics, orthopaedics and psychiatry. We are also a regional trauma centre. With our on-site helipad, we are able to receive critically ill and injured patients from our region which covers around a quarter of north-west Victoria and border areas of New South Wales.

While training with us, you will be exposed to a range of high-acuity patients and procedures, both adults and paediatrics. You will work in a very supportive environment with an enthusiastic bunch of consultants. We offer a comprehensive and varied weekly teaching program and a highly successful exam preparation course at both primary and fellowship level.

We are happy to employ PGY3s as junior registrars, allowing you to step up, give Emergency Medicine a try and experience what the specialty has to offer while receiving plenty of support and supervision in the role. Should Emergency Medicine be for you, we can support you in your application to join the ACEM training program for the start of PGY4. For more information on how to join the Emergency Medicine training program, click here or contact us to discuss further.

For those of you already in the training program, we are accredited for 24 months of training, meaning that, with rotations to critical care and non-ED, you can complete a significant portion of your training with us. We are able to offer rotations in ICU and anaesthetics to a limited number of trainees in their first year with us. We are also able to offer a six-month paediatric rotation. If you have an interest in doing other external rotations there are also options to do these while with us. For those of you towards the end of your training, you will be able to gain experience in supervision and running the department while still a trainee, making the transition to consultant that bit easier.

We are able to offer positions to GP trainees who wish to do their Emergency Medicine Certificate or Diploma or who just wish to gain extra experience working in the Emergency Department.

We are also happy to consider applications from overseas, for example, doctors from the UK completing their foundation program and looking to experience life ‘down under’. Get in touch to discuss at what level you would be best suited to work at (please note that registrar in Australia does not mean quite the same as in the UK and generally refers to anyone outside their first few years after graduation).

Recruitment for February 2022 closed on 31st May. From time to time, we have vacancies come up through the year. Please get in touch if you would like to know if there are any current job opportunities.
